Dressing for the New Normal

Week 16 of WFH has come to a close and ladies- this change in my work routine been a rollercoaster of emotions. It really has been hard! My productivity has fluctuated from week to week – some weeks I’m killing it, others I can barely keep my head above water. One thing that has helped me feel more productive, and ready to take on the day, is getting dressed in the morning. Actually putting on clothes I would be willing to leave the house in, and not staying in my pajamas all day. That’s not to say that some days I don’t change from my night pajamas into my “day pajamas.” AKA sweats, leggings, hoodies- you get the idea.

So, I’ll start off by saying that I am not going to wear pencil skirts and blazers to work from my dining room table… it’s just not happening. So I have had to adjust how I get ready for work in the morning. I’ve been trying to make some of my office staples work in a more casual environment. And I’ve been looking for pieces that are easy, comfortable, and presentable. Enter this jumpsuit! One and done.

It’s breezy, a bit flowy, and in a very soft fabric. It’s not constricting- which is important! I’m working on being more mindful of my purchases going forward and keeping this new “lifestyle” of mine at the root of my spending decisions.

And while the changes in work environment have brought some challenges, I have been thoroughly enjoying the amount of time I am spending with my family. Before the pandemic, I always felt guilty for not being at home with Emma. Scared that I would miss her major milestones, and sad that I would have to hear about every new thing she was doing from others. And even though I am still very busy with work, being able to see Emma grow day by day has been so great!

How has working from home been for you all? If you are not working from home, how have you been dealing with the changes in your work place? I’m trying to keep a “glass half full” mentality and focus on the positive. We all have so much to be thankful for during this time- primarily our health!

Until next time,

Jannette
